If you want to access server by domain, but dont want to manually modify the hosts file each time, then GitDrive Finder can help! Finder will search the app in LAN and automatically add the IP address and domain mapping to the hosts file. Anytime you switch between LAN connections and run the Finder, the IP address and domain mapping will be updated.

You can push the content to your repository via https, which is implemented by a self-signed X509 certificate that will be generated during first lanuch, this means each device will have its own X509 certificate. You can also export the X509 certificate from GitDrive and trust it in the system where the git client is installed.
